Microsoft and Nvidia Invest $15B in Anthropic to Fuel AI Infrastructure Expansion
Microsoft and Nvidia have committed a combined $15 billion to Anthropic, marking one of the largest AI infrastructure deals to date. Microsoft secures a $5 billion stake, while Nvidia—now the world's most valuable company—doubles down with a $10 billion investment. Anthropic's valuation has surged to $350 billion, nearly doubling since early 2024.
The startup, founded by ex-OpenAI executives, is betting on its Claude language models to compete with ChatGPT. As part of the deal, Anthropic will acquire $30 billion worth of compute capacity from Microsoft Azure and up to one gigawatt of Nvidia's high-performance Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems. "This partnership accelerates Claude's development at unprecedented scale," said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
